Capitol Internship Program
Interested in a career in government? Lee Honors College welcomes all majors to apply for this four to seven credit hour spring 2016 internship in Lansing. Current placements include positions with the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, the State Senate, the Republican Communications Office, the State House and the Michigan Environmental Council. Free transportation will be provided to and from Lansing. If you are interested, contact Dr. David Houghton at david.houghton@wmich.edu as soon as possible.

American Geosciences Institute Workforce (AGI) – Summer Diversity Internship
This internship is intended for undergraduate students who are passionate about making positive impacts in the geoscience community and who have experience in science communication. Tasks of the interns include: interfacing with the Deep Carbon Observatory (DCO) representatives, networking with prominent diversity groups in geosciences and handling program logistics. The summer 2015 internship lasts12 weeks and includes a $5,000 stipend. The deadline to apply is March 2. Click here for more information.

American Geosciences Institute Workforce (AGI) – Course Development Internship
AGI’s Workforce Program is teaming up with the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) to develop short, online courses to teach specific geoscience skills and competencies. They are seeking an upperclassman bachelor’s student with strong quantitative skills to help develop short courses through the Geosciences Online Learning Initiative (GOLI). This is a summer 2015 internship that will last 12 weeks and will include a $5,000 stipend. Hospital Internships for Pre-health Students
The Atlantis Project is now accepting applications for their 2015 summer internship program. Hospital internships run by the Atlantis Project (AP) provide students with ethical shadowing programs within government-run hospitals in Europe. This year, programs will take place in Spain and Portugal. Interns will spend roughly 25 hours per week in the hospital and will have an average workday of five hours (five days a week) shadowing European doctors. Time spent in the hospital may vary depending on activity level of the hospital on a given day. The deadline to apply for scholarships for this opportunity is Feb. 16.

Community Surface Dynamics Modeling System (CSDMS) Annual Meeting
Student scholarships are available to attend the CSDMS Annual Meeting that will take place May 26-28 in Boulder, Colorado. The meeting will include keynote presentations on the topic of earth-surface dynamics, hands on clinics related to community models and more. The deadline to apply is March 1. The Michigan League of Conservation Voters is looking for interns! Michigan LCV is the political voice for Michigan’s lands, waters, air, and Great Lakes. Summer Research Program
University of Nebraska-Lincoln is offering an opportunity for students interested in research relating to a wide variety of disciplines, including Bioenergy Systems, Chemistry, Minority Health Disparities and more. This intensive summer research experience provides mentoring and research experiences while allowing scholars to preview graduate school life. Students with a strong interest in graduate programs are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those from populations traditionally underrepresented in graduate education. The application deadline is March 1. Click here for more information and to apply.

Kalamazoo Community Foundation Scholarships
The Kalamazoo Community Foundation offers scholarships to Kalamazoo County and Van Buren County college students. Click here for more information and to apply. Deadline for most of the scholarships offered is March 31.

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund aids people active in movements for social and economic justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to students who are able to do academic work at the college or university level and who are active in the progressive movement. The maximum grant available from the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund is $10,000 per year (from July 1 through June 30). Click here for more information and to apply. APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN APRIL 1.

Southwest Michigan First Internship Program 
Connect with Michigan’s business community as an intern with the 2015 Monroe-Brown Internship Program. Southwest Michigan First is collaborating with the Monroe-Brown Foundation to offer college and university students funding and career experience in the southwest Michigan business community. Each student will have the opportunity to be awarded up to $3,000 in scholarships and wages and be placed at an internship site of their interest. Click here for more information. The deadline to apply is Feb 28.

The Institute for Shock Physics (ISP) Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
Washington State University ISP is pleased to announce a nine week, multidisciplinary undergraduate research program called SURE in the summer of 2015 (May 28 through July 31). The goal of the program is to provide undergraduate students in the physical sciences and engineering the opportunity to undertake and perform hands-on experimental investigations of condensed matter phenomena at extreme conditions. This program includes a $5,000 stipend for the nine week session, free housing on campus and travel assistance for travel to and from Pullman, Washington (of up to $500). Click here for more information and to apply. The deadline for applications is Feb. 20.

Microbiology Summer Research Program
The Department of Microbiology at The University of Iowa is accepting applications for an intensive, mentored research experience for undergraduates interested in the biological sciences. The program will begin May 26, 2015, and end July 31, 2015. A $5,200 stipend and money for housing, food, travel and allowance are included! The application deadline is Feb. 15. Click here for details.

Michigan Democratic Coordinated Campaign
Internships and Fellowship programs are available for students interested in learning the nuts and bolts of how a campaign works and helping to elect Democratic candidates from across the state. Hours are flexible, and no experience is necessary. Participants will learn how to run a local field program and a successful “Get Out the Vote” operation while networking within the profession. The Michigan Republican Party
The Michigan Republican Party is looking for interns who want to witness and learn the inner-workings of the Michigan Republican Party. Interns will work at the office headquarters in Lansing, and out of other regional office locations meeting elected officials, attending special “behind the scenes” events and more. Duties of interns can include but are not limited to: writing scripts for press releases, planning and staffing events, engaging in research, implementing grassroots strategies and more.
