Community Service – Week of Sept. 5

Any opportunity listed on this website can be used to meet the honors college volunteer requirement. If you’re looking for an off-campus opportunity, Volunteer Kalamazoo is always a wonderful resource, or connect with WMU’s student-run FOCUS Kalamazoo for more options to volunteer on campus and in our community.

Great Lakes PeaceJam
Great Lakes PeaceJam is an innovative movement that connects youth and Nobel Peace Laureates through service to the community. The 2016 PeaceJam Youth Conference will be held on the WMU campus March 24-26.

There are multiple opportunities for WMU students to connect and engage, primarily as college mentors who will facilitate the conference for the high school PeaceJam participants. For more information, please contact Jeffrey Jones at jeff.jones@wmich.edu.

Michigan Autism Conference
Join the MAC for the 2016 Michigan Autism Conference. The MAC is seeking volunteers for their upcoming conference Sept. 14-16 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo. A variety of shifts are available throughout each day. Volunteering for this event will be a great way to build your resume and gain volunteer experience while having fun! View the flier and complete the volunteer sign-up sheet if you are interested.

For more information, please contact: Kayla Jenssen at kayla.j.jenssen@wmich.edu. You may also visit the conference website at michiganautismconference.org or the psychology blog site at dearpsychologyadvisor.blogspot.com.
